Isn’t a clinch extremely vulnerable to a crotch shot?
Moo asked:
First, I understand many different types of clinches and that crotch shots are illegal in most tournament style competitions.

However, aren’t they vulnerable in general anyway? I’ve seen accidental boxing knockouts from a clinch (even though they do an improper clinch for wrestling or mma) and it seems a clear line of attack.

In a street fight, it’s wide open for a nut shot..!!

This can easily be covered by a skilled fighter by simply placing a lead foot out and a little twist of the hip. As a punch can be countered so can a nut shot, and when you nut shot you also show a lack of confidence in winning fairly. In MA thats a disgrace.
Why ruin a mans jewels ? I mean where do we say hey if our art works, ell it has to work in a fair way. Or else are we not training to be what we hope to avoid?

I have a habit of using my lead knee to deflect blows away from my manhood into my inner thigh of my other leg, and frankly I dont care if it is bad tecnique… I will train to protect my manhood…. If you clinch square to your opponent, with space, of course you are leaving that area wide open… the best thing to do is move your hips into his…
I am still tryin to learn the clinch myself, but just because it is against the rules to hit my manhood, does not mean I am going to leave it out there to get hammered…

in boxing its very vulnerible but the muay thai clinch if done properly does not allow your opponet to hit you with any power and you have to toatal control of your opponet so its not vulnerable

Landing a blow while your opponent has control over your head is next to impossible… Your head is attached to your body so wherever it goes the rest of you follows, it is also a weak point of balance so a simple pull or push at the right time would make a nut shot impossible…
It is impossible to cover your entire boday at all times, this does not mean that you will hit your intended target, if I drop my hands you might have a better chance of hitting my head but it doesn’t mean that you will.
