Is chuck liddell 1 of the best fighters ever?

Chris asked:

In Mixed Martial Art’s..Their are hundreds of hundreds of different styles that go in to martial arts category, anyday a martial artist is typically a better trained fighter..Most MMA fighters have black belts in other various forms, for example chuck liddell is a black belt in Kenpo Karate and has been doing kickboxing forever, he also has a 18, 2 record in kickboxing..Frank Mir is a black belt in Kenpo..Kenpo is a extremely hybrid Violent martial arts, that emphiazes on throat, strikes, leverage, and the opponents body against them, the fact is leg kicks, groin shots and throat strikes and eye gouges would end a fight before a punch would..espically in a no holds fight, or a vale tudo..CHUCK Liddell is a perfect example, he can destroy like 99% of people on earth as most pro fighters, chuck could also be more deadly with no legal rules and not in the octogan..CHUCK in pride would of wrecked everyone but fedor and cro cop..his fight against Wanderlei showed, that countering, and throwing kicks and that Straight punches and left crosses, can defeat Wanderlei’s wild striking and technical clinch..Chuck landed more because the way he threw and he would hit wanderlei before wanderlei could get his wild hooks on chucks head..
Chuck, Could Easily beat most guys out their, and in his prime could destroy rich franklin, chris leben, james irvin, forrest griffin, rashad evans, thiago silva, keith jardine, houston alexander..
Chuck is a perfect example of a dominant fighter
he once won 10 fights in a row
and like i said has kickboxing record of 18 and 2, 16 k.o.s wrestled like 5 years divsion 1 at cal poly..used to street fight a lot, and is a great kenpo fighter, kickboxe, wrestler, and is a purple belt in brazilian jui jitsu..he is also a black belt in koi khan karate, and chuck defeated everyone good in his prime..
The fact is He also had 1 of the hardest title defenses, Defending your title against a prime couture and tito and babalu isnt easy..Tito ortiz defened his title against, elvis S, and old ken shamrock, and yuki kondo who was never good..tito’s hardest defense was against evan tanner who he slammed, so in a way it proved evan was only a true beast in his earlier days not in the UFC..

you can also say that and prove that Chuck sense he like a lot of Lightheavy weight fighters, walk around at 220 or so the actual fight day, they put on typically 15 after weight in..Chuck could easily go to heavyweight and drop guys like ben rothewell or kongo, up until 2008 the heavyweight divsion in the UFC has always sucked..and knows its getting better, the only Heavyweights that could defeat chuck are lesnar cause’s he’s to good wrestling and to big, and carwin better striking with hands, and to hard to takedown nor can you kick him without getting takendown, and Fedor cause he kills everyone..

Liddell
had a 7 win streak at 1 point with 7 tko/ko’s
he was once 20 and 3 in the UFC, with an early loss to veteran Jeremy horn by submission and a tko by king randy at 1 point and a tko by rampage..

Chuck typically outstriked his opponents, and in his early fights tended to land multiple leg kicks to the body and legs to wear them down..

I DO Not belive he is the best ever
because guys with great ground and pound and great striking gave him trouble, rampage, randy couture at 1 point when chuck was hurt at that time, and rashad and shogun

however Had chuck went to the Heavyweight divison a few years back
he could take tim syliva, and frank mir, and a few other guys
just recently has the HW division gotten some talent
he could beat frank mir
frank mir is so overrated
he thinks he can beat fedor, he thinks lesnar will destroy fedor..he claimed he’d wreck lesnar, when he cannot cause his takedown defense and stand up isnt that great, and on top of that his submissions arent as good as say big nog or fedor

Frank mir has 2 k.o/tko wins
1 against an injured staph infected nog, have you ever had staph?
not to mention it was a tko not a k.o.

oh and he k.o. wes sims
wow
wes sims sucks

FRANK Mir
is all SH#T talk and all ground game

I think that he was a great fighter when he was at his prime. Now that he has gotten older all he does is get knocked out. He should just go ahead and all it quits.

Your question is was Chuck one of the best fighters ever…and the answer is yes. At this point MMA is still very young so his run is up there with other greats. Holding 2 victories over Randy and Tito and a victory over Vitor, Bustamente (sp?), Randleman (one of the best at the time), and Wanderlei shows he is one of the best ever in the young sport. Also, his style played a large part in the growth of the sport.

he was at one time, but isn’t a threat anymore because he didn’t evolve with the competition. In the sport of MMA you have to keep evolving into a better fighter to keep up with the competition. Liddell sticks with the same training camp he’s always been with (The Pit) He’s the best fighter the Pit has, and has ever had. When your easily the best fighter at the gym your not being pushed to get any better because your already wrecking fools that you train with. He needs to get into a camp like Black House, or American Top Team and start training with people who are better than he is, and fighters who will push him to his limits, and beyond. He’s fighting Tito Ortiz for the 3rd time. Him and Tito are going to be the Coaches for the next ultimate fighter. Should be interesting. I think he should easily beat Tito again.

No. The UFC catered to him for years giving him fights against guys who fight on the ground, when he started fighting guys who could punch he started losing. All the things you state about how he would out strike his opponents is because he was fighting wrestlers. Ortiz, Horn, Sobral, and most of the guys he fought.

Chuck Liddell could NEVER beat Frank Mir.
